An Unprecedented Display of Lights: The seventh Deepotsav in Ayodhya witnessed a spectacle like no other, with over 22 lakh ‘diyas’ brightening the banks of the Saryu river. This remarkable feat set a new global record for the simultaneous lighting of a vast number of lamps in a single location.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi disseminated images of ‘Deepotsav’ festivities in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, marking the occasion “amazing, supernatural and unforgettable”.Ayodhya set a new world record of lighting over 22 lakh diyas on Diwali, said UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

PM Modi utilized X, previously known as Twitter, to pen down his thoughts in Hindi, “Amazing, supernatural and unforgettable! The whole country is becoming illuminated with the grand festival of lights of Ayodhya city illuminated with millions of lamps. The energy emanating from this is spreading new zeal and enthusiasm throughout India. I wish that Lord Shri Ram does well for all the countrymen and becomes the inspiration for all my family members. Hail Siya Ram!”

The government of Uttar Pradesh reported that a minimum of 22 lakh diyas lit up the banks of the Saryu River at ‘Ram Ki Paidi’ spanning 51 ghats. The state officials announced the establishment of a fresh Guinness World Record, surpassing the record set the previous year. The number of diyas that were lit this year saw an increase of approximately 6.47 lakh compared to 2022.

Speaking to an audience at Deepotsav 2023, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, shared, “When I first arrived in Ayodhya, I was greeted with chants of – ‘Yogi ji, take up the task, build the temple.’ The moment has arrived. The temple stands completed and it’s now time for Ayodhya’s residents to prepare for January 22, a day that will go down in history. The current generation is perhaps the luckiest as they will experience the moment ‘when Lord Ram takes his place in the temple’ (jab Ram Lalla virajman honge). This comes after a long anticipation of 500 years. Numerous Hindu monarchs, saints, and sages, including Ashok Singhal ji, Mahant Digvijaynath ji Maharaj, and others, dedicated their lives to the construction of a magnificent Ram temple. The people of Ayodhya should be ready to welcome Lord Ram in a grand manner.
